GoToPDF
100% client-side · nothing uploaded, ever

Turn any document into a stamped PDF — or back again.

Drop in a PDF, Word doc, spreadsheet, CSV, text file, or image, then pick where it goes: PDF to Word, Word to PDF, PDF to Excel, and more. GoToPDF converts it right inside this browser tab — no accounts, no waiting on a server, no file ever leaves your device.

How it works

Three steps. Zero servers.

01

Drop your file

Drag a document into the tray, or browse for one. Convert several at once if you like.

02

Pick where it goes

Choose the output format per file — PDF to Word, Word to PDF, PDF to Excel, whatever you need — then your browser converts it using open-source libraries. Nothing is sent anywhere.

03

Stamped & ready

Download the finished file instantly, or grab everything at once as a ZIP — mix and match formats in one batch.

What you can convert today

GoToPDF focuses on doing a short list of formats reliably in both directions, rather than promising everything. Pick the destination per file from the dropdown next to it.

FAQ

Questions people actually ask

No. Every conversion runs inside your browser tab using JavaScript. GoToPDF has no upload endpoint and no file storage — we couldn't see your files even if we wanted to.

PDF is a page-layout format, not a document-structure format, so converting it back is inherently a best-effort reconstruction. PDF→Word re-extracts the text and reflows it into paragraphs and page breaks — it won't reproduce the exact original layout, fonts, or embedded images. PDF→Excel/CSV detects table columns by looking at spacing between text on the page, which works well for cleanly formatted tables and less well for complex, merged-cell, or multi-column layouts. For simple text documents and simple tables, results are usually clean; for heavily designed PDFs, expect to do some manual tidy-up afterward.

Yes. Each file in the queue gets its own "convert to" dropdown, defaulted to the most common choice for that file type (e.g. PDF for Word/Excel/images, Word for PDFs). Change it any time before or after it converts — mix a PDF→Excel with a Word→PDF and a CSV→Word in the same batch, then download everything together as one ZIP.

You can convert as many files as you like, for free. Individual files over 60MB are blocked to keep your browser tab responsive, since very large documents can be slow to render on-device.

We support the formats listed above because we can convert them accurately without a server. Formats like legacy .doc, .pptx and .odt need heavier processing we're still working on adding client-side.

Yes — GoToPDF works in any modern mobile or desktop browser. On phones, use the "browse" link to pick a file from your photos or files app.
